Tuesday night I stayed at The Battlefield Inn in Vicksburg, Mississippi. I fell in love with the place a few years ago. When you arrive at Battlefield Inn, the four famous talking parrots will greet you. The Inn is a southern style, two story hotel with 117 rooms. After you check in, you get to pull the arm on the slot machine located on the check-in counter. You can win free drinks or even a free meal. They give you a wooden nickel which buys you breakfast in the morning. I am not talking doughnuts and coffee, either. I am talking eggs, grits, bacon, toast, etc. I love it, it's like staying at Tara in Gone With the Wind but without the drama.
