Happy Birthday, Owen!

Dearest Blog,
Long time, no see. I need to be better about updating. Same story, different month.

We celebrated Owen's seventh birthday at Chuck E. Cheese with some dear friends and classmates. We were the only official birthday party during our time slot which was pretty nice.

A discussion with Owen at seven years old.

Tell me a joke? "Why did the swordfish cross the sea? Because a shark called him beaky." (No, I don't get it either)

What is your favorite thing to do? "Play my DS"

Who is your best friend? "Jack" (Awwwww)

Ok, who do you love the most? "Mom"

What is your favorite drink? "Mountain Dew" (When has he had this drink???)

What is your favorite thing to watch? "Cartoon Network" (When has he watched CN?)

So Thankful:

  • For those two rugrats pictured above

  • For my husband who is currently practicing the guitar in the living room. I'm so glad he is still with us, able to walk (albeit with a limp), and able to enjoy a new safer hobby.

  • For time spent with my precious family last night. We enjoyed the John Conlee (Rose Colored Glasses, Common Man) concert and I couldn't help thinking how much my dad would have loved it.

  • That my FIL came by this morning and helped Tommy move the gargantuan television out of the hallway. Since it bit the dust a few weeks ago and we bought a new one for the bedroom, it's been sitting in the hall. Not anymore! :)

  • I can take a nap later today. I'm not a fan of Daylight Savings Time.

So, I'm b-a-c-k! I'm not going to even make excuses for how long it has been since I posted an update to this poor neglected blog.

It's just like a soap opera around here, you miss a couple of months, and you can catch up by just watching one day.

A brief recap:

June 2010

Built a pool (well we didn't, the pool company did)

Grandpa planted watermelons and we enjoyed them by the pool. So much so that the seeds which were spit out into the yard began to sprout and we had our own little watermelon vine.

July 2010

Celebrated Jack's 4th birthday with a Thomas the Tank Engine pool party

Owen became an artist

August 2010

Owen started Kindergarten

Jack started PK4

October 2010

Tommy was in a horrific four wheeler accident in Georgia which left him unable to walk for 3 months.
No pictures of this event, well there actually is one, but you wouldn't want to see it.

We celebrated Halloween

November 2010

We went to the fair and took lots of pictures since Tommy couldn't be there with us.

Jack's first trip to the ER.He ran in front of the swing while his brother was swinging.

We celebrated Owen's 6th birthday with a party at home. We also went out to our favorite Japanese restaurant the night before. We opted to forego the huge party this year and just let Owen go to Target and pick out three toys he really wanted. His choices? A Leapster Explorer, a new game, and some Legos.

December 2010

You can barely see Tommy's wheelchair in this one. Thank goodness he doesn't need it anymore.

Jack serenaded everyone at his grandparents' house before opening presents.

Easter Re-cap

Whew! Our spring break week flew by. I was sad to see the time come to an end, but I was a little more sad to hear the alarm clock this morning!

I spent most of the week unpacking box after box, and I'm still not finished. We still have plenty to do around here, though.

Tommy finally started working on our columns on the front of the house on Saturday. He didn't finish that evening, so he had to get up early Sunday to complete the job, which actually wasn't completed until Sunday evening...but we won't go there. He had to stop working to attend the Easter festivities, though.

We started off the day with an egg hunt/lunch at Tommy's aunt's house.

Jack had to check out the contents of each egg before he'd go find another one.

Next, we headed over to Aunt Jackie's for more lunch and another egg hunt.

Jack was a little more into this egg hunt, but both boys were deterred by the big pile of leaves in Aunt Jackie's yard (as evidenced by the pictures below).

Who needs snow to make angels?

Tommy left early to make it back to work on our columns. He had plenty of help back home, but my usually VERY careful husband put a nail through his finger with the nail gun! ((Shudder)) I didn't find this out until I returned home, though. He finished the job even though I'm sure he was in pain.

Above the stone, there used to just be 4x4 boards as columns, but my incredible husband fashioned these columns from concrete board. Some of the columns still need trim around the bottoms and we need to paint all of them, but I love the way they turned out. He's a keeper! :)

While Tommy worked into dark, the boys played in their redneck sandbox. For entertainment, they just hopped on their grandpa's dog and tried to ride him. Poor Buster is a good sport.

Tommy did finally go to the doctor today. They x-rayed his finger to make sure it wasn't fractured, etc. His fingers fine, but he had to get a tetanus shot. They also sent him home with some antibiotic and pain killer. Thank goodness he's fine.

Owen wanted to sing a little song at Tommy's parents' house on Christmas day.

It's quick and very belated!

Merry Christmas!

It's way too early on Christmas morning. I've been up since three when Santa needed help getting presents together. I'm also irritated at myself. I thought there were two presents in one Amazon box, but there was only one when I actually opened the box this morning. Lesson learned. Open the boxes as they come in. That way, customer service can be of some assistance before Christmas morning.

The boys are going to be excited. Santa dropped two new presents off at our new house on his way through town. Those presents will require helmets at all times!

Speaking of the new house, I've been pretty lax about updating and keeping track of the house progress. I don't think I've taken one picture, either. Oops! We're waiting on the sheetrock finishers at the moment. After that, I hope it goes quickly. We're going on five months now. I'm ready and the boys are definitely ready for it to be finished.

The boys are still asleep and I'm going to try to get a little more sleep before the excitement really starts later today. Merry Christmas! :)

In front of our little Christmas tree. Yes, that is a pacifier, and yes, he's three. He spends most days without it, but found it right before it was time to go with Grandma to the mall. You'll notice that he has a different one in the last picture...I guess he was trying to decide which one to take on our little trip.

Owen's Birthday
We celebrated at our favorite Japanese restaurant per Owen's request. Aunt Jackie picked up a cookie cake with some magic candles. Owen and Jack provided the entertainment.

Pictures from November 13
The Fair (Part 2)
These pictures are from our second trip to the fair with Grandma, Aunt Jackie, and the girls on November 1st. Tommy was at a race, of course.
We visited the new Agventure Building and we made butter, milked the cows, picked apples and gathered eggs. The boys really enjoyed it!

The Fair
From our first trip to the Pensacola Interstate Fair this year on October 25. We went with Aunt Cindy.

Tommy and the boys rode the real helicopter around the fairgrounds. I don't think I took a breath until they were all safely back on the ground again.

This is an awful picture (quality wise) but I love Jack giving me the "thumbs up" sign.
